We are always looking to expand our ranks with new singers with whom we can share the fun and musical fulfillment of singing in close harmony and performing. The best way to experience what it would be like to be a member of Stone Mountain Chorus is to join us at our regular rehearsals – listen, talk to members, sing along (Guest Books are provided with all of our current repertoire.)As you learn about us, we would like to know a little about you. Formal vocal or musical training is not required, but it helps us to know your musical background, experience and interest.
If you are interested in joining, our VP of Membership will provide you with the details including cost and time commitment. The audition process is to have you learn one of the four parts of a chorus song and sing it in a quartet made up of you plus three regular members of the Chorus singing the other parts. In your initial visits with the Chorus, members can help you decide which of the four vocal parts suits you best (Tenor, Lead, Baritone, Bass.) We will provide you with sheet music and learning tracks for the chosen song. The learning tracks include a full mix of all four parts and also a track with your part isolated on one side. You can adjust the volume of your part, with the goal being to sing without your part and with the other three parts. During this learning process, members of the chorus will be happy to sing with you in a quartet and assist with any questions or problems that you may have.
As with all Chorus activities, the process of becoming a member is designed to be an enjoyable rather than an intimidating experience. We all are striving to be better singers and to help improve the overall performance of the Chorus.
Thanks for your interest in Stone Mountain Chorus – we hope you can join us in our mission of “Enriching lives through vocal harmony!”
